Our feature album for May 2008
|
Swedish band H.E.A.T have been causing all sorts of temperature problems for AOR fans, and it's not even summer yet! Our review of this excellent band is now online. Click on the album cover (left)! Think the very best Sweden had to offer back in the 80's and it's all wrapped up among thirteen (yes.. thirteen!) tracks with nigh on a weak moment. Break out the Sunblock for a hot summer!

Upcoming Highlights
The real bolter we are waiting on is the debut album from Marcello Vestry. According to their MySpace page, it gets a Japanese release this month, with (hopefully) a European release through NL Distribution and other markets. Keep your eye on this one - it's an absolute corker!
AOR-FM Records also re-release the 'Front Page News' album from New York 80's pompsters Thrills during April too. Keep an eye out for that one.
Also coming in June 2008 is the new Journey Cd 'Revelations' featuring new singer Arnel Pineda. Is this the big comeback with their legacy sound in tow? We'll see..
More news as we hear it..
Interviews
The latest interview with the Myland duo of Guido Priori and Paolo Morbini is now online. To read the goss on 'No Mans Land' click here.
Site News
We have included an Inbound News Feed system here at GD. It takes RSS news feeds from other well known news rock websites and portals, and aggregates them onto one page. Click here to go to the page, or click on the 'RSS News Feeds' option in the top Main Menu to go to the same page.
So far, we've included the usual suspects like Blabbermouth, Brave Words/Bloody Knuckles, SleazeRoxx, New Musical Express (NME) and a few others. We'll be adding to the list as new resources on the Web that support RSS are found. Conversely, our own Outbound RSS News and Review Feed links can be found on the footer of our site. These can be used by other sites wishing to do very much the same thing in terms of aggregating their news.

| Roulette (Sweden) sign to AOR-FM Records |
AOR-FM has signed Swedish melodic aor band ROULETTE, and will be releasing an album entitled 'Better Late Than Never' (named after one of their songs), which will include their two very rare singles, and at least 13 top quality demos. Again these will be limited 'numbered' collectors editions, but this time of 1000. This is big news for fans of Easy Action ('That Makes One'), Da Vinci and Guardian Angels.

For more details/mp3 etc, go to our home page or visit our Myspace at: www.myspace.com/aorfmrecordlabel.
We are currently in talks with other bands: things are heating up, for a long hot AOR summer.
Keeping the fire burning..

Another forgotten album it seems, yet 'On The Frontier' is one of the better 'one-offs' related to the band Renaissance that I've come across. In fact I'll go so far as to say it's one of the better albums of 1973 that you never heard.

Boatz offer up some very tasty radio rock. Honestly, I wonder why so little attention has been given to this album in light of the excellent AOR found herein. Time to correct this injustice and say this is one of the best AOR/Pop albums of 1979 and definitely one you should seek out post haste!

The music of Puzzle was far more accessible combining pop and jazz styles with classical tendencies and 'The Second Album' is the better of their two albums. Some comparisons to Illinois bands Chicago and Chase are easy to make with Puzzle's use of horns..

Occasionally on my travels I will come across a little gem of an album that thoroughly deserves a moment in the sun here at GLORY-DAZE. Dutch band Hollander is one of those little gems, and we have to wind the clock right back to 1979 to discover what made this band tick, and to grieve as to why they didn't hang around longer.

'Beyond Belief' not only became the group's most successful but it ranks up with the likes of Idle Cure, White Heart and Allies best IMO. While the lyrical conviction of the band will turn off some, the musicianship here is undeniable and deserving of a mention on Glory-Daze. |
