All of the major content is now restored. A little bit about this site. Weve been going consistently now since May 1999. We were originally called HEART of the ROCK, and had a dinky little website hosted by xoom.com back in those early days. There were a bundle of informative sites back then. Some of you may remember AOR Basement, AORland, Mood Swings, On The Rocks, and a few others. Sadly, many of those sites fell by the wayside, usually the weekly grind of writing and uploading content getting the better of many an aspiring online rock journalist.
As technology got better, we shifted with the times and experimented with different medium in which to get our articles across. It wasnt until about 2003 that we moved into a front-end Portal-back-end Database structure, leaving behind four years worth of pain and heartache working with static HTML. God, what a grind that was. During this transition, we opted for a name change, moving to the domain name of GLORY-DAZE. We couldnt grab the domain glorydaze.com, so we opted for the next best thing: glory-daze.com. We fluffed around with some web portal software like PHP-Nuke, and Dragonfly, but there were serious security concerns with those systems, and after exploring around and getting some recommendations, we finally settled on PHP-Fusion.
GLORY-DAZE suffered somewhat at the hands of a failing data center in Houston Texas during mid 2008, so much so that our site was being compromised. We made the decision to move to a new data center, upgrade to the very latest version of PHP-Fusion v7.0 (which required a huge data transition-upgrade), and used the opportunity to change the domain again (talk about keeping it fresh) to glorydazemusic.com. A bit of a mouthful I know, but as a branding exercise, it works.
There is still room to modify parts of the site, but because v7.0 has invalidated a lot of the older code we used, we have to wait until coders-developers go through the upgrade path and bring their applications (known as infusions in PHP Fusion terminology) up to speed.
We are also over at Myspace (www.myspace.com/glorydaze_aor), as is every other Tom Dick and Harry. There are some neat features on this site, which we will take some time explaining.
Firstly, our Forums. We have publicly viewable forums, and then we have member only viewable forums. The public stuff you should be able to see when you click on Forum on our top menu. The member only stuff contains a wealth of goodies such as downloads, fileshare links etc that we dont expose to the public (for security reasons). If you are not a member, register and hook on.
Chat Rooms. We use a very nifty Chat Room facility that stitches into PHP-Fusion seamlessly, and is mapped to members-users as they login into the site. Members can onto the Chat Rooms (there are four) via the top menu CHAT ROOM. However this is only visible to members, when they are logged in. Members can also see who is in the Chat Rooms through the Flashchat Online panel on the right-hand side of the website.
Online Jukebox. We use the very cool FlamPlayer tool to manage our audio files. All of our mp3s are uploaded into the FlamPlayer database, and all of the Audio Panels you see in the album reviews are managed via Flam playlists. Every mp3 that is uploaded is placed into a playlist (i.e 2008 journey, where mp3s off their 2008 album Revelation are placed).
Other features include: Avatar usage, Shoutbox, Commenting, Rating and Polls. Soon we will get our Photo Gallery underway. A big thanks goes to the writing team here at GLORYDAZEMUSIC, plus the regulars.

| 'Homeless' Michael Bolton |
Michael Bolton is currently 'homeless' after splitting from Desperate Housewives star Nicollette Sheridan.
The US singer - who separated from Nicollette in August when the pair mutually decided to end their engagement - has been left on the streets after being thrown out of the US$4.4 million Los Angeles mansion the pair shared.
The actress' decision comes just two days after Michael put his Connecticut property up for sale for $11 million.
A source told the New York Post newspaper: 'Michael is basically homeless. He and Nicolette split the Los Angeles house, but she wants to stay there and not have him anywhere near it.
'She also doesn't particularly want to pay him for his half and thinks he should just give the house to her.
'Michael's kind of screwed. He pulled up his longtime roots in Connecticut to live with her, and now she booted him. He's got nowhere to go.'
Michael and Nicollette first dated for several years in the early 90s. They got engaged in March 2006 after rekindling their relationship only a few months earlier.

| IWF backs off of Scorpions Wikipedia block after criticism |
| News of Wikipedia being blocked over controversial content usually originates out of countries like China, but this week's Wikipedia drama comes courtesy the UK. Thanks to a recommendation by the British watch group Internet Watch Foundation (IWF), ISPs across the country blocked access to one or more pages on Wikipedia's site, with some blocking access altogether. Although the IWF has since backed down and removed the offending content from its list, questions still remain about the organization's power to cause such widespread censorship. |

| Scorpions 'Virgin Killer' image impacts on WikiPedia access |
| Who would've thought that an album cover from 32 years ago would be the catalyst to shut down an entire popular website. WikiPedia, the popular information database which ranks up in the top 5 or 10 websites worldwide (alongside MySpace, YouTube, Yahoo) was added to a global Internet Filtering blacklist in the last few days. This meant that editors and users of the WikiPedia site were shut out and prevented from logging on. The culprit? Someone from the British Government-backed Internet Watch Foundation in their infinite wisdom, decided that an image of The Scorpions 1976 album cover for 'Virgin Killer' was deemed to be child pornography. | Knyght bet everything on new EP |
Italian rockers KNYGHT, previously featured here at GLORYDAZEMUSIC, are ready to release BET EVERYTHING their first EP produced and recorded in Germany by Heiko Hinze (previous production stints with Tom Jones, Mothers Finest, Metal Church, Axxis, LoveTrick), on January 15, 2009 by German independent label Anko Music.

| Lynyrd Skynyrd to return in 2009 |
Lynyrd Skynyrd are reportedly eyeing an early-2009 release for their next studio album, says guitarist Rickey Medlocke. The band has spent the last year recording with a surprising choice — Marilyn Manson/Rob Zombie guitarist John 5 — and hope to spend the latter portion of 2008 in the studio to finish recording the new album, the band’s first since 2003’s maligned Vicious Cycle. 'We've been doing quite a bit of writing with John 5,' Medlocke said. 'While everybody thought, 'My god, you are going to write with this guy? How is that ever going to work?' But this guy came in and is really multi-talented in all genres.' Two of the songs expected to make the track list are the dark 'Floyd' and the uptempo 'Bang, Bang.' The band is currently on the road sharing co-headlining duties with Kid Rock, who appeared on the band’s last album.

| Iron Maiden announce NZ tour dates |
British heavy metal band Iron Maiden will return to New Zealand in February for the first time in 16 years to play shows in Auckland and Christchurch. Iron Maiden, who are from east London and rose to fame in the 1980s, have released over a dozen albums which have sold in their tens of millions. The New Zealand visit is part of the last leg of the Somewhere Back in Time world tour and the band will arrive here in their own customised Boeing 757 plane - called Ed Force One. The plane will be piloted by vocalist Bruce Dickinson, and will include crew and 12 tonnes of stage set and equipment.
Iron Maiden founder Steve Harris said it was disappointing to not get here during a 2005 tour but the country's isolation issues had been overcome so it could be included this time around. 'At least we have our own plane with our crew and a few beers on board to keep us entertained on the way down there' he said.
Iron Maiden play on February 20 at Mt Smart Stadium in Auckland and the following night at AMI Stadium (formerly Lancaster Park) in Christchurch. Tickets for both shows go on sale on November 28.

| MTV Music to outdo You Tube |
| Do you sometimes find yourself wishing that there was a place you could go to just watch music videos? Back in the 80s, MTV served that purpose. These days, MTV and its sibling MTV2 are hardly channels anyone would watch in order to get a music video fix. MTV is looking to redeem itself in the music video department, however, by launching a new site Tuesday called MTV Music that opens up the company's massive video archive and puts it on the web for free. |

| The Who announce NZ show! |
Legendary rock band The Who, one of the biggest names in rock music history, have announced they will perform in New Zealand in March.
Led by surviving members Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey, the British rockers will perform at North Harbour Stadium on March 21.
They last performed here in 1968. Their biggest songs include My Generation, Who Are You and The Kids Are Alright.
The band's original line-up included Keith Moon, who died in 1978, and John Entwistle, who died in 2002.
The current line-up includes Zak Starkey - the son of Beatles star Ringo Starr - on drums.
Ticket details are yet to be confirmed. |

Bad Boy's debut 'The Band That Milwaukee Made Famous' was the resulting output. Given a strong media run, the album is typical of many mid 70's acts at the time, the guitar oriented sound straddling the fence between pop rock (bordering on power pop in places) and a more gritty style.

The 90's were a decade that didn't sit that comfortably with me at all. Blame the Seattle movement, Kurt Cobain whatever.. the life was sucked out of the excessive 80's and left to dry on the rack. Many established acts tried to continue on and failed in the process. Some local area acts carried on oblivious of the trends. One of those were Mississippi based ELI.
